This idea was completely new to me but something I just loved! The bride put together a bouquet with all vintage pins from her family instead of going the traditional route of flowers. For her bridesmaids, they all got these beautiful fabric purses that were carried down the aisle instead of flowers. It also allowed them to carry their personal things and have a place to put them. It was very creative and what worked for them. It was nice to see how the bride infused a different way of using these items. Don't be afraid to think outside the box and do something completely different. It will stand out and add those little touches and details that makes the wedding more personal.

Our Fabulous Idea Segment - Week #002

Using beautiful, colorful flowers as your wedding bouquet looks amazing against a white dress. Colorful flowers add so much drama and depth.

I've had the pleasure to work with some amazing floral designers over the years and this particular design is from the folks over at Apotheca Flowers & Tea Chest (www.apothecaflowers.com). Don't be afraid to share your vision with your florist. Creative people like doing creative stuff so lean on them for that talent and just have fun with it.

The other day I asked my good friend Ron Risman of Risman Photography to come by and take some updated studio photographs......and so he did. Below are some photographs from the day from different angles. Every now and then it's nice to take some updated photographs of your space, especially in my place, since I am constantly updated and changing the look. I often get inspired to keep the space evolving with different photos on the walls or furniture placement. I love how he captured the cool, glass fireplace along the main wall...since most people have no idea that is a fireplace.

I love how he showcased the stairs to the upper loft area, where I currently have my desk and storage. It allows me to use the entire downstairs area for clients. We focused on the front end area, where I meet clients and have most of my work on display but there is an entire back area, near the windows that I use for shoots and open space. I love how it currently looks and how I have managed to never build walls within the space. I feel by doing that, it keeps the creativity flowing and I just love coming to work each day! Enjoy!

Welcome to the first edition of my weekly Fabulous Idea segment!

When you have been shooting weddings for as long as I have....you often come across cool things and experience some pretty amazing ideas that our creative couples integrated into their own weddings. Planning a wedding for the first time can be extremely overwhelming! By showcasing what I have seen at other weddings, it may open up some creative thought processes for those brides just jumping into this pool for the first time.

It's truly our responsibility as vendors who attend lots and lots of weddings, to educate and guide our couples to share what we know from behind the scenes.

So without further ado......let's begin this Fabulous Idea segment with one of my favorite subjects: SHOES!

Wearing funky and colorful shoes under your wedding dress is getting more and more attention and popular with modern brides. It can be one of those items that just gives you enough personality, so guests get a glimpse of your creative side. Don't feel like you have to go with a traditional pair of white wedding shoes...go for color and nontraditional styles that you love! It's fun, unique and always a topic of conversation.

Taylor & Nate got married on the popular 11-11-11 overlooking the water at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, ME. Although the weather was a bit chilly, the wedding was gorgeous. The couple decided to see each other ahead of time, so we did the big reveal on the beach and got some amazing photographs in the process. The wedding had lots of references to the oceanside with a beautiful cake with some sea shells as well as a clambake style dinner with thick juicy steaks, steamers and lobster for dinner! Allen & Jeff who live in Chicago contacted me during their visit to Harvard, MA to check out Fruitlands Museum for their wedding. They truly have a love for their family, friends and for each other. There ceremony consisted of a lot of speeches and friends who sang at their ceremony and it was like watching a broadway show. It was so beautiful and intense that I found myself actually tearing up throughout the entire thing. They are also very funny and I really enjoyed sharing this wonderful day with them. Nicole & Joey commissioned me to photograph their wedding after visiting my booth at last years bridal expo in Marlboro, MA. I actually didn't meet them in person until about a month prior to their wedding day and I knew the second I met them, this was going to be an amazing wedding and it was that and more! They are such an adorable couple and their wedding was full of all the elements that makes a wedding beautiful. It was held at the gorgeous Warren Conference Center in Ashland, MA which has these great red barns, silo and beach area that makes for the perfect backdrop for their wedding photographs. Jen & Jim | Trash the Dress Session

Jen & Jim have been married for over a year and decided it was time to do a trash the dress (Apres Shoot) with me and I was very excited about working with them. They said they really wanted to just go for it with having some fun with this, and that is exactly what we did. They brought with them some water filled balloons and the fight was on! After a quick roll in the sand, it was time to dip into the river to wash away all the sand.

Jeannie & Peter | Wedding | Negril, Jamaica, July, 2011

In July, I had the pleasure of joining Peter & Jeannie in Negril, Jamaica for their island wedding. It was tons of fun and they had awesome things happening all week for all the 25 or so guests that made the trip to celebrate with them. I'm doing a mini post about the trip so I can get some photographs up!

The rehearsal dinner was held at this awesome restaurant with amazing views!

The following day, Jeannie and Peter chartered a Catamaran for all of us so we could go on a beautiful boat ride with some snorkeling and a tour of the beautiful buildings and caves that line the coast. I did get sick on this trip after several hours and got off the boat before they hit a nasty rain storm. Everyone said it was still fun but they got drenched and the waves were pretty bad! Here's some photos from the beginning of the trip when the weather was gorgeous....

Here's some photos of the happy couple on there wedding day. It rained every single day from 2pm to 4pm, which forced them to move the wedding to a covered porch area but it was still beautiful. We took a trip down to the beach after the ceremony and after the rain stopped to get some great shots.....

So many photos that I would love to share but this will have to do for now. Another great thing that we did was a trash the dress session with Jeannie and Peter the next day and with Jeff and Lindsay, Jeannie's daughter, who's wedding I photographed last year. She was gracious enough to bring her wedding dress to Jamaica, just to get into the water with it! So much fun and more photos to come!

Capitol Bride Magazine

So excited to be selected to be on the cover of Capitol Bride Magazine! Brad Harrington of Harrington Flowers, LLC and I came up with doing something really cool with some head pieces and the flowers came out amazing. This shot was taken at Zorvino Vineyards and it started to rain, so although I would have liked to have gotten many more photographs outside, I was only able to capture just a few and this was one of them. Shauna, our model for the day, was a trouper with posing so beautifully in the rain and with tons of flowers surrounding her! Good job everyone!

It was a perfect night in Boston for Lorena & Gabriel's engagement shoot! We took advantage of all sorts of fun places around town and even stopped at a cafe for some red velvet cupcakes and a cappuccino. Lorena & Gabriel's wedding will be getting married in August and I'm really looking forward to working with them again and you will have to check back for photos from their wedding, but for now, check out the photos I captured for their engagement shoot.

Inspiration Beach Flower Shoot

I teamed up recently with Brad Harrington from Harrington Flowers LLC to photograph some of his beautiful flower arrangements so they can be used for some marketing and advertising pieces to add to his growing, successful floral design business. We spoke about shooting on the beach and it just made sense to create a beachy theme look to the arrangements. We also decided to create a gorgeous setup where we could photograph a bride putting on her makeup at a makeup table and using the amazing ocean as the backdrop. It turned out very interesting and something ultra unique and fun.

The same flowers were pretty much used within all the arrangements, however, each one came out completely different. The creation for the mirror arrangement was unreal. Since I didn't have an attached mirror to the makeup table, Brad suggested he could make one that would work, however, never thought it would look like that!....WOW! He incorporated a decorative round table mirror surrounded by green hydrangeas, fuschia mokara orchids and then attached seashells, starfish and pink astilbe. Then the whole thing was then covered with seaweed looking material with branches sticking out of it.

The pink bouquet was designed using pink callalillies, pink hydrangeas, starfish ornaments and an oasis wire collar and then tied with a white ribbon with dangling crystal strans to create a chandelier effect and feel. The light bouncing off the crystals really gave this bouquet it's bling star power and held up pretty good, even though it took a swim in the ocean a few times!

For the Green & Yellow European style, double tiered bouquet, yellow pin cushion protea was used along with green hanging amaranthus, seashells and scabiosa pods, bromelia tilanbsia, lotus pods. This very unusual creation was one to see, as it had so many facets to it that really made it pop!

Rounding out the other arrangements, Brad created a small floral head piece, using the same starfish ornaments as well as astilbe and mokara orchids. For the umbrella,
orchids and sea shells were attached to the top portion and allowing a cascading effect and we thought using Tiki torches with hydrangeas and hanging amaranthus gave the whole scene that beachy feel.

Overall, we wanted to create a very unique inspiration shoot challenging our ideas and thoughts. When using a floral designer who is extremely passionate about his craft and is very creative with his designs and not afraid to think outside the box, you are left with ideas that can change the way you look at flowers. Brad has the ability to create over the top and sometimes quirky arrangements, but also the most elegant and sophisticated designs that are truly classic and timeless. Attention to detail and personal touches are just standard practice when using Harrington Flowers. Party Flora Magazine "Special Edition" Layout

So excited to see my photographs plastered on 2 full pages in the new "Special Edition" Party Flora Magazine! Both weddings featured are from weddings I photographed from the same family. I've worked with the Gannon Family on all three of their daughter's weddings over the years. I first met this wonderful family in 2006 when I photographed their daughter Erin & Andy, who's wedding took place at the Mountain View Grand in 2006. The photos that landed in the magazine are from Katie & Gino's wedding, at the Wolfeboro Inn in August 2010 and Meredith & Dave's wedding at Church Landing on January, 2011. The flowers for both weddings were designed by Brad Harrington of Harrington Flowers (harringtonflowersllc.com) and the brains behind getting them published in this magazine. What's even more exciting is we were the only studio representing the East Coast! Two photographers in the magazine are from California and two are from Italy and 1 from Portland, OR. Extremely proud to be in such great company with some other great talent!

Photos from Meredith & Dave's January 2011 wedding take up the entire left side of the page!

The arrangements that Meredith and Dave selected for their January wedding had a winter wonderland theme to them. I love the use of the white flowers, crystals and branches bringing this centerpiece to a new level of romance and elegance.

Photos on the right side of the page are from Katie & Gino's August 2010 wedding.

These colorful and fun table arrangements really made a statement! I love the margarita glasses and the green banana's and the bursting flowers dripping out of the vase! Katie's wedding was all about color and she nailed it!

I'm so excited to post Julie & Joel's wedding photographs! Julie looked amazing in her Maggie Sottero Dress and it was just one of those perfect early summer days with blue skies and puffy white clouds, but it was very steamy that day! Joel also looked very chic and the locations where we got to shoot them was simply perfect. Joel owns a funeral home and Julie works in the ER, so it was fitting for them to have a coffin and RN nurse hat cake at their wedding....it's all about the details! On Saturday I had the pleasure of hanging with Jeannie and her friends and family for her surprise Bridal Shower put on by her Daughter, Lindsay. Bob & Maureen's 50th Surprise Wedding Anniversary Party | Meredith, NH

When I got the call from a lovely woman from London inquiring about photographing her parents 50th Wedding Anniversary...I was thrilled. Katherine and her 4 siblings put on a very secret and beautiful surprise party for their parents, which was held at the gorgeous Church Landing in Meredith, NH. It was probably one of the nicest days of the year, so far! The sun was out, the breeze was light and the day was simply incredible. Bob and Maureen had no idea what was in store for them! At first they thought their kids were just taking them for a lovely boat ride around Meredith Bay and then maybe a lunch, but when they came into the hall and saw 75 of their closest friends and family, they were stunned! It was filled with great people, amazing food, dancing, toasts and cake! I'd like to thank this wonderful family for allowing me to celebrate such an amazing milestone in their lives, by capturing a day full of surprises and love! May these photographs bring you many wonderful memories!

It was like playing dress up with your girlfriends and just having the best time. Both of these gorgeous ladies rocked their shoot and I can't wait to hear the reaction when they give these photos to their husbands.

Floral Photo Shoot

I hooked up with the very talented Brad Harrington of Harrington Flowers, LLC for a very Royal Wedding inspired photo shoot to photograph some of his very unique and stunning arrangements and head pieces. I love the use of color in these arrangements as well as the creative elements, such as the feathers and crystals. Brad is one of those floral designers that isn't afraid to spice things up a bit and think outside the box and try something different. It was an honor to be asked to photograph these for him and if you are in need of flowers for your wedding or anything else, be sure to check him out. I'd like to give thanks to everyone who participated in this shoot and to thank everyone for making my job so much fun.

The only person not on board for our photo shoot was mother nature. It ended up pouring rain most of the day but we were able to get outside for some great shots and thanks to the vineyard owners for letting us use their facilities to get away from the rain!

Sawyer was just a little peanut when she came in for her first official photo shoot. She wasn't too happy about it either! We had no lucky putting her to sleep and she made sure we knew how unhappy she was by pretty much doing everything she could to take our attention away from photographing her. Let's just say she did all the wonderful things babies are known for and it was messy, to say the least! ;D

However, I was able to capture some adorable photographs of her and I'm posting just a few of them here. Eric & Lisa are her wonderful parents, who's wedding we photographed several years ago and Eric is also my wonderful UPS Driver and takes care of all my customer packages.

How adorable is this peanut.....we are now offering unique and creative photo shoots for newborns! I have so many of my wedding couples expecting a baby that it just seems fitting to offer this type of shoot. Here's a teaser of what I have in mind for some very adorable and cute things for your brand new member of your family. This particular shot is using a dairy scale to show a more vintage style photograph. Excited to post some Winter Engagement photos from Kerry & John's Engagement Session. Our resident Associate Photographer Jodi captured these gorgeous outdoor photographs and will be representing Sage Studios when she photographs their wedding in October. Kerry and John expressed that they wanted something different for their engagement shoot so when they suggested a snowy winter scene, I knew the photos would be awesome! I love the gorgeous New England backdrop the snow gave to the photographs and how they were able to incorporate snow angels and a snowball fight into the mix! They got lucky with the weather seeing there was a pretty severe storm the night before and the day after the shoot! On a beautiful winter's day in January, I had the honor of photographing Meredith & David's wedding at the wonderful Church Landing in Meredith, NH. It was a bittersweet day for me since Meredith is the last daughter to get married in her family. I've been invited to photograph all 3 of their daughters weddings and it's been so great to work with this wonderful family to create so many amazing memories for them. When I shot Andy and Erin's wedding in 2006, it was so great and my first introduction into this family. Then in 2010, we photographed Gino & Katie's wedding which was a beautiful, outdoor tented wedding on Lake Winnipesaukee. Let me just say this family knows how to throw some pretty amazing weddings. All were so different in feel and location but all had the same happy and fun memories that I will truly never forget. Lindsay's Apres Shoot

On a cold day in October, I photographed Lindsay for her Apres Wedding Shoot. Alot of people called this a "Trash the Dress" session but I call it Apres (which means after) because I hardly ever "trash" someones dress. What's so great about Apres Shoots are it's yet another excuse to put your wedding dress back on and have some fun!

The beauty about these shoots is how much creativity you can have. The day of your wedding is so formal and busy with having to visit with everyone, but when you opt to have an Apres Shoot, I have your undivided attention and you can really just play and do different stuff you didn't get to do on your wedding day. We selected an Apple Orchard for our shoot and brought cool accessories such as funky jewelry, shoes and head pieces. I also brought along a few extra props such as the bright colored chairs, antique cameras, luggage and the awesome cowboy hat.

I also need to give a shout out to the other talented vendors that participated in this shoot:

Flowers:        Brad Harrington from Chalifours Flowers (www.chalifoursflowers.com) is such a gem with his creativity. He even surprises me with some of the artistic designs he comes up with. When I asked him to create something odd, fun and unique, I never expected him to create the arrangements you will see in the photos. He really challenged himself to go above and beyond with designing something that wasn't traditional and it just added that extra element of punch and flair to the shoot. Brad...you are a true artist with a vision that is beyond words...Thank you for designing something that was really off the charts!

Makeup:        Alyssa MacKenzie is also a very artistic and creative person I enjoy working with. When I asked her to do Lindsay's makeup for this shoot, she told me that she had something really unique in mind and I was blown away with the overall look. She created these very cool whimsical lashes that had a very fairly tale inspired theme to them. She kept Lindsays makeup clean, with just a punch of bright pink lips, it really worked with everything I was trying to create. I've worked with Alyssa on many projects such as weddings, boudoir shoots and these types of shoots and she always comes up with a look that is jaw dropping. Someone to consider for your makeup services.

Lindsay:        My model for the day was Lindsay who's wedding I photographed back in April 2010. She was a trooper posing in the cold for several hours doing everything I asked of her and I thought she looked beautiful! We had alot of fun collaborating on the look and feel of this shoot and I just wanted to thank her for being such a great subject...she really made my job easy!

I've been busy shooting alot of baby sessions lately for all my clients who are either expecting or have already given birth to their little bundles of joy. Congratulations to all my clients who are expanding there families and I'm excited to be involved in the process.

Teagan Sophia was just 2 weeks old when she had her first official photo shoot and she was so sweet and well behaved through the whole process. Her parents have already hung a gorgeous Gallery Wrap in her baby's room and I just completed an adorable 8x8 book & calendar for them.

October 10, 2010 was an awesome date for so many couples who got married and it also belonged to our fabulous couple Beth & Jonathan. Their wedding was awesome from start to finish! The weather was perfect and the Scituate Lighthouse was a great backdrop for our photos! Beth & Jonathan couldn't have been a nicer couple to work with and we had a blast spending this fantastic day with them.

Beth looked so beautiful in what I would describe as a very unique wedding dress. I honestly have never seen a gown that had so much detail and was one of those breathing taking moments. She had a smile on her face from ear to ear the entire day and Jonathan was just so dapper and handsome!

Thank you both for having us capture your most beautiful wedding and I hope you both have a lifetime of love!

A few weeks ago when I was shooting Anna & Tim's wedding up in Meredith, NH, my associate photographers Arthur and Shane were taking care of business at Lisa & Deven's wedding in MA. I met Lisa & Deven when Arthur and I shot their engagement session and they are just such a cute couple! Anna & Tim's wedding was one of those perfect days.....gorgeous 75-80 degree weather, crisp blue sky and puffy white clouds and a dock on the water to boot! Their wedding was held at the Chase House in Meredith, NH. They couldn't have ordered this day, that is how awesome it was. I just love late September weddings and the weather that you get. Thanks to Anna and Tim for having us along for the ride...we had a great time spending the day with you.

One thing I love shooting are the details and the rings are fun to do creative
